Museum Associate
Summary
The New England Ski Museum is seeking a part-time Museum Associate for visitor services and sales at our Franconia branch on weekends and holidays. This part-time position has room to grow. Assist with museum operations, greet visitors, handle retail sales, and support front desk duties. Work with a small collaborative team in a historic ski museum setting with opportunities to develop skills in museum operations, events, and marketing. Position available immediately. Qualifications
- Excellent verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and independently;
- Cordial approach to visitors and members;
- Background in retail sales;
- Familiarity and experience with skiing;
- Interest in local and regional history and geography;
- Familiarity with Google Applications;
- Experience in marketing, social media, e-commerce and events;
- Organized and detail-oriented.
Responsibilities
- Assists Branch Manager with operation of the Museum branch;
- Acts as docent to Museum visitors;
- Acts as retail contact for Museum visitors;
- Serves as telephone contact for callers;
- Shares responsibility with other staff for selected building maintenance, front desk, and event tasks;
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb stairs;
- Ability to walk on snow or ice covered surfaces;
- Ability to lift 25 pounds from floor to table;
- Ability and willingness to clear snow from exterior stairs and walkways.

- Office copier, printer;
- Cash register;
- Pitney Bowes postage meter;
- DVD/TV.
Working Conditions
The New England Ski Museum has a very small staff, requiring that all staffers fill multiple and occasionally unexpected roles. At certain times employees can expect to be the sole staff member present in the Museum. The location of the Museum branches entail frequently challenging weather conditions.
