The New England Ski Museum Hosts five Annual Events:
In early March, two major benefit races, one for Alpine and one Nordic skiers, raise funds for the Museum:
Bretton Woods Nordic Marathon
at the Omni Mount Washington Resort, Bretton Woods Nordic Center, Bretton Woods, NH
Hannes Schneider Meister Cup Race at Mount Cranmore, North Conway, NH
The Exhibit Opening Party on the first Friday after Memorial Day at the Museum showcases the new annual exhibition. This reception with appetizers and refreshments from 5 to 7 PM also includes the presentation of the Golden Ski Award to the top Eastern junior ski racers by the North American Snowsports Journalists Association, East. In 2014, the party will be Friday May 30, celebrating the opening of “Green Mountains, White Gold: Origins of Vermont Skiing.”
The Annual Meeting and Dinner is held in the fall at a New England ski area and features the presentation of the Spirit of Skiing Award by the Museum to an individual or organization that embodies the Otto Schniebs dictum that “skiing is not just a sport, it is a way of life”. Winners of the Spirit of Skiing award include Tom Corcoran, Stein Eriksen, Herbert Schneider, SE Group, Penny Pitou and Georg Capaul.
The Holiday Party, held in the week before New Year’s Eve, is an evening reception with appetizers and refreshments at the Museum
